Rybelsus is now the Ozempic pill: list price, self-pay tiers and what changed

Rybelsus was the first oral GLP-1, approved in 2019 for type 2 diabetes in 3, 7 and 14 mg tablets. In 2026 Novo Nordisk retired the name in the United States. The FDA approved Ozempic as the proprietary name for a new oral semaglutide formulation in 1.5, 4 and 9 mg on February 4, 2026, and the company launched it nationwide as the Ozempic pill in May 2026. List price

TrumpRx.gov shows the Ozempic pill standard price as $1,027.51 per bottle of 30 tablets (read September 4, 2026), the same figure as the Ozempic pen. Novo Nordisk's February 24, 2026 release named Rybelsus alongside Wegovy and Ozempic in the list-price cut to $675 per month from January 1, 2027, so the Ozempic pill inherits that change.

Self-pay through NovoCare Pharmacy

Prices per NovoCare Pharmacy and the Ozempic savings page, read September 4, 2026. These are the same dollar figures as the Wegovy pill at 1.5, 4 and 9 mg; the Wegovy pill adds a 25 mg strength at $299 and carries the higher $1,349.02 list price.

Savings card

With commercial insurance that covers the product: as little as $25 per month, card contribution up to $100 per month, for up to 48 months. One month is one bottle of 30 tablets. Government beneficiaries excluded.

What changed for a Rybelsus patient

The new tablets are a different formulation (Novo Nordisk calls it R2) approved on bioequivalence to the old strengths, which is why the milligram labels look unrelated to 3, 7 and 14. The 2026 FDA label document covers both Rybelsus and Ozempic tablets. How an existing prescription is carried across is a prescriber and pharmacist decision; the price index only notes that the self-pay price for the new product is published per strength and that the old brand no longer has a self-pay page.

Medicare

Oral semaglutide for type 2 diabetes is an ordinary Part D drug. It is not in the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge. Rybelsus was named in CMS's second negotiation round with Ozempic and Wegovy, so the $274 per month negotiated Medicare price applies from January 2027; see the Medicare page.

What a month really costs

A 30-tablet bottle is a 30-day supply, so a per-bottle price is close to a calendar-month price: $299 per bottle is $3,640 a year, or $303 per month. Per milligram, the 9 mg tablet at $299 is $1.11 per mg; oral semaglutide has low bioavailability, so per-milligram figures across a tablet and an injection are not comparable, a point developed on the price per mg page.
